Speaking of which, my strategy was to buy Komplete Standard as the firm base and then slowly building the collection of 3rd party Kontakt libraries. Also, as someone's already mentioned, there is a tremendous value in purchasing Komplete packages when thinking about the potential cost of all the individual products within, as well as the price of the decent 3rd party Kontakt libraries collection. Though I must admit that there are products included which I've still haven't used in my work, one cannot deny the universal quality of Native Instruments software. I have a Standard package since version 9 and have updated to 12 this summer. Depending on your specific needs, this can easily be a one-stop-shop for top-quality sounds and effects. I might be personally biased on this (I'm not affiliated with Native Instruments in any way), but I think that getting a version of the Komplete package is one of the best investments in music equipment you can make. There are countless - discussions about Komplete 11 are also relevant. You might even think about just getting the full version of Kontakt via a crossgrade with a Kontakt Player sample library (Metropolis Ark 1 might be one such product), and then contemplating the rest of Komplete later (especially at 50% off updates time, like the recently past Black Friday ad).Īlso, please spend some time searching the forum for old threads. The full version of Kontakt is crucial for being able to obtain both free libraries and libraries that aren't available for the free Kontakt Player version. Personally, if you can't wait, I would seriously consider the normal Komplete (not ultimate), which will get you the full Kontakt, a bunch of synths, and an okay collection of libraries.

It's generally best to wait for one of these if you can.

Komplete has two types of sales: 50% off the full versions, and 50% off the updates/crossgrades. Honestly, those are so different that it's strange to even try to directly compare them. What makes sense to buy next depends on what you have already, if anything.
